On Saturday 14th of March, we were privileged to attend commemoration events honouring all those who lost their lives during the Clydebank Blitz. The events marked 85 years since the devastating WWII attack on Clydebank, which claimed many lives, and left thousands of people homeless.
It was a privilege to lay a wreath at Dalnottar cemetery on behalf of Clydebank Asbestos Group, in memory of all those who lost their lives. Afterwards, we witnessed the unveiling of a new plaque opposite the titan crane honouring the Polish sailors who bravely helped the people of Clydebank in their time of need. It was great to be joined by representatives from the Polish Institute of National Remembrance.
Clydebank was targeted because it was a hub of shipbuilding and industry. We remember the Clydebank Blitz as a dark episode in our history but also a moment where the bravery and resilience of the people of Clydebank shone.
