Members’ coffee mornings have become an important fixture in the CAG calendar. Our latest coffee morning however was a little bit different – it was held in the new Clydebank Museum!
The new Clydebank Museum was opened in July 2025 in the basement of Clydebank Library. This fantastic new facility tells the story of Clydebank, with particular focus on the industrial history of the Shipyards and Singers and a display dedicated to the Blitz. The museum even features two of our very own members – Jim McFarlane and Noel Hynes – who were filmed sharing their memories of Clydebank for one of the exhibits. After going on a tour of the brilliant new museum, we knew that it would be of interest to our members and the museum staff kindly agreed to host our next coffee morning there.
Joining us for this coffee morning was Lesley Anderson from Community Links Scotland, who has been leading a local heritage project called “Threads of Time” which some of our CAG members have been involved in. Lesley kindly agreed to come along and give us a special preview of some videos that were made for the project of our members telling their stories of Clydebank. The videos were excellent, and we can’t wait to see the full project when it is released in January!
As usual it was great to catch up with our members over a cup of tea, and we’re looking forward to more coffee mornings in 2026 – thanks to everyone who attended and we will see you in the New Year!
